Things To Do

This is where your journey begins.  A quick glance at what's available a short drive away.

Golf Courses

On the North Coast of Scotland we are very lucky to be have a choice of golf courses just a short drive away from our door.  Kennel Cottage is the perfect base to explore the courses in Caithness and Sutherland.  If you fancy some links golf there's Reay, Wick and Brora.  If you prefer parkland courses Thurso, Lybster, Helmsdale, Golspie and Durness are ready to test your game.  All are between 10 minutes to 2 hours drive from here.

Walks and Watersports

On the North Coast we have so many places to explore from historic castles like Sinclair Castle near Wick on the east Caithness coast to modern sculptures on forest walks at Dunnet Forest or Borgie Forest in the west.

Melvich beach is popular with surfers,  while open water swimming is a regular event at Portskerra harbour.  Look up North Coast Watersports at Dunnet for surfing lessons or Clach Mara Sauna on the coast near Castletown for a post swim warm up.

Dining

Once you've soaked up the scenery you might want to sample some of the local hospitality.  The north coast has this covered be it traditional or a taste of Spain with some tapas.  Some of my favourites are The Store Bistro & Bar in Bettyhill or in Thurso The Park Hotel for a traditional meal, but if you fancy some tapas Capilla at Scrabster awaits you.  Closer to home The Halladale Inn offers a wide selection of local food and drinks.
